Story painting about mayflies. The english poet George Crabbe famously used the may flie as a symbol for brevity and the fleeting nature of life in his satirical poem "The newspaper" (1785) comparing the short lifespan of a daily news paper to that of a mayflie. Both born to live in the limelight for a brief moment. The poet Bryn O in his poem "The Mayfly" pens an ode to the mayfly.
